Coaching Staff

Eric Newell — Head Coach
Third season at Troy (2023- ) after a 500-win D-II stint at Auburn Montgomery; owns a 96-62-1 record with the Trojans and led the club to 33 wins in his debut campaign. A five-time NCAA regional coach, Newell’s teams are known for power hitting and high-pressure small-ball.

Camden Decker — Assistant / Offense & Recruiting
Former Jacksonville State catcher entering year 3 on staff; coordinates hitting, catchers and player-development data systems.

Anna Shelnutt — Assistant / Defense

About the School

Admission Standards (FTIC 2025-26)

  1. Unconditional admission: high-school core GPA ≥ 3.0 (4.0 scale) – test optional.
  2. Conditional admission: GPA 2.5–2.99 with supportive materials.
  3. Honors & scholarship benchmarks: ACT ≥ 20 / SAT ≥ 1030 & GPA ≥ 3.0 (scholarships); Honors Program requires ACT 26 / SAT 1250.
  4. 16-unit high-school curriculum recommended (4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 2 foreign language).
  5. Applications accepted year-round via the Troy portal; rolling decisions; $30 fee.
